This week the Living Citizenship Program is holding several workshops related to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
Last Wednesday, in the morning, we were able to attend the presentation of the program's scholarship recipients in relation to SDG 14.
The workshop had several topics such as: blue Amazon, geek universe inserted in the theme, Tamar project and several dynamics to have interaction with the participants.
It is worth remembering that SDG 14 covers the care of marine life, increasing studies on this subject, ensuring the conservation of the oceans, reducing marine pollution, ending illegal overfishing, and much more
Thus, it is essential to talk about the Blue Amazon, or Brazilian maritime territory, is the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Brazil, an area that corresponds to approximately 3.5 million square kilometers, being the equivalent or close to the surface of the Amazon Rainforest - green Amazon (more than half the area of continental Brazil).
Then, we also commented in the workshop about the Tamar project, which has been around since the 1980's, and is a private non-profit organization that aims to protect and monitor mainly sea turtles. The project is found in 8 states in the coastal region, distributed in 23 locations. It is worth knowing and having a better contact with this place.
Remembering that the movies Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, Sammy's adventures, and Winter the dolphin were some of the movie recommendations to better understand the importance of SDG 14 in this scenario.
We conclude, therefore, the relevance of discussing this issue even though we are in a state with no contact with the sea, since everyone is responsible for marine life.
