Bolivia Fair

Bolivia Fair - Citizen Voices Blog

The Bolivia Fair was created in 2005, in a small way, and it has been growing throughout the years, receiving more than 6 thousand visitors in each edition. It is considered the biggest multicultural event of the region, because it gathers the culture of several countries in one place, and is organized every second Sunday of the month, by a team composed of Bolivians and Brazilians, uniting the two communities in favor of citizenship, culture, and art. Furthermore, the fair was created to commemorate Bolivia's Independence and, currently, its main objective is to unify several cultures, especially the Bolivian one, through cultural presentations, typical foods, and crafts, among other means.

With this, it is worth pointing out that the importance of the fair is essential, since "without art we don't live", as said by José Geraldo, known as Zé Geral, programmer and musical director of the Bolivia Fair, who was interviewed by scholarship holder Gabriela Lima Caixeta de Deus, from the Cidadania Viva Program, during the fair. And, through art and citizenship, cultural activities are held at the Sarau da Praça Bolívia, where several regional artists have performed on the stage of the fair, voluntarily, such as Paulo Simões, Lia Mayo, Simona, among other South Mato Grosso icons. And art doesn't live by music alone, because the event also features small theater numbers, poetry recitations, and dance presentations. Because of this, it is possible to find all kinds of artistic manifestations one can imagine.

By the way, the fair is also very focused on gastronomy, bringing together typical regional foods, Bolivian and from several other places in the world, all united in a single place, causing a great and rich cultural diversity, taking into account that, currently, the fair has more than 200 exhibitors. In fact, a very interesting curiosity is that in the past the square was known as "New Ipanema", but soon after the creation of the fair it was renamed "Republic of Bolivia Square".
